Do you like Kiki de Montparnasse? The Raspail Montparnasse’s team hotel does!

Kiki De Montparnasse, an amorous muse without any taboos and a model for Soutine, Modigliani and Foujita, was one of the most striking figures of the Parisian life of the roaring twenties. She sang, danced, painted and influenced fashion and famous artists of this period. Her perfect figure and her unique oval were immortalized by the surrealist photographer Man Ray, of whom she was the mistress and the muse. She remains, even today, the queen of Montparnasse. This character was certainly mythical, free and sulphurous. Nevertheless, she carried in her wake all the Montparnasse universe; painters, poets, artists’ studios, restaurants and cafes … In hours of glory and sadness! And as a proof to you, the whole Montparnasse district landed at the auction with her! Our hotel in Montparnasse could not miss such a great opportunity to talk about one of our favorite stars!

Kiki de Montparnasse lands at auction!

The auction house De Baecque & Associés has called out to Parisians in order to gather exceptional pieces and memories of the roaring twenties in Montparnasse. The goal: to organize on September 21st a unique sale at the Hotel Drouot. On the program : a dive into the heart of the old bohemian and irreverent Montparnasse… Photographs, paintings, sculptures, books, and even a 78 rpm recorded by Kiki …

Many pieces will be presented for the first time, such as documents of the time. Amongst it, autographs, books, clothing, fabrics, furniture, etc. The hammer will slap on the desk with the regularity of a metronome, to knock down these pieces relating the artistic landscape of Montparnasse during the Roaring Twenties.
