Discover the spirit of Daguerre Street, close to our hotel and Montparnasse.

On Sunday, June 3rd, a 10 minutes walk from the hotel Raspail Montparnasse, will lead you to rue Daguerre, a partially pedestrian street, authentic, friendly and very commercial where it is good to stroll on sunny days, to discover a garage sale. Do not miss this opportunity to browse through the thousands and one items offered for sale by individuals.

While Agnès Varda paid tribute to her favorite street in the Daguerreotypes, many people, at various times, have succumbed to its charm: Louis Daguerre inventor of the ancestor of the camera that gave its name to the street , the painters Alexander Calder and Jean Legros, the photographer Peter Lindbergh, the writer Stéphane Hessel, the sculptor Caesar, …

The Daguerre spirit is actually more than a concept, it is a lifestyle, a market atmosphere where teem the shops of another time, full of flavors, humor and closeness; the vegetable store, which name “the good housewife” seems to come straight from the fifties or the butchery, undoubtdely “equine” sometime in the past if the horses heads surmounting it mean anything, to name only a few !

It is a true moment to pleasure to sit on the sunny terraces of these little neighborhood bars of another time or have a good meal at one of the the many restaurants and brasseries, all age groups meeting there, in this Paris which we love so much !

We also come to Daguerre Street to stroll through the various shops for an unusual shopping break .To be found there are historical shops of the district such as the accordions repairer, Leopard Masked Editions, comics specialist who introduces burlesque and lightness in the great works of literature, the Cousins d’Alice who offers funny ancient toys for children as well as some more sophisticated concepts stores, which set up business more recently such as Haili which offers the fashion creations of fifteen European designers and Mint & Lilies, gathering pretty decorative objects and stationery.

The Daguerre Street, close to our hotel and Montparnasse allows a beautiful olfactory, colorful, friendly, visual and lively walk, far from the Paris hubbub. One drawback only : you’ll find it impossible to leave with empty hands or stomach.
